Since so many readers visit my directory of ethical Canadian fashion brands, I figured it would be useful to create a capsule wardrobe guide using Canadian brands whenever possible. For the three pieces that are from US-based brands Reformation and Everlane, they ship to Canada, and duties are already included in the price.
This capsule wardrobe is not that different from the French capsule wardrobe post I made almost five years ago. The focus is still on well-made, timeless, foundational pieces that you can easily mix and match with other items in your wardrobe, as well as dress up or down. Feel free to look for similiar pieces, especially the jackets, second hand.
These 21 pieces are based on what I have in my closet. I don’t limit myself to these items or colour palette. I have lots of prints and colour (mostly vintage or secondhand designer) in my wardrobe that I wear with my capsule items. But if sticking to neutrals make dressing easier for you, then go for it.

Wear the oversized the white Oxford shirt over black leggings or tucked into jeans.
The Frank and Oak matching yellow top and skirt can easily be worn as separates with other pieces in this capsule.
I chose 14k gold jewelry because they don’t rub off or tarnish. I recommend investing in real gold.
If the Reformation trench coat sells out, Sézane has a similar Trench, but additional duty and taxes might still be charged upon delivery.
