120+ Ethical Canadian Fashion Brands \ Ultimate List

Updated June 2021

I generally avoid shopping online at non-Canadian sites because the duty and custom fees can be ridiculously high. To spare you fellow Canucks the pain of spending more than the poor loonie can stretch, I’ve compiled a list of fantastic ethical and sustainable Canadian brands and retailers. (Please note that not every item is sustainable, so please do your own research.)

This guide is divided into these categories:

brands / retailers / consignment / shoes / lingerie & swimwear / bags & accessories / jewelery / no-duty international sites

While most the brands make womenswear, I note when brands stock men’s and children’s clothes. I also note when brands offer plus sizes beyond XL.

Torontonions, you can shop local with the Toronto guide for ethical fashion.

I’m happy to see that many Canadian designers are focused on using natural fibres such as linen and organic cotton—machine washable! I also see a pattern in terms of design: feminine, comfortable, minimalist, reflective of our unfussy elegance.
